
Mark Lyga - Clinical Director
Mark has been at W.T.C. since 1998. He has a B.A. from State University of New York and an MSW from Syracuse. He is a Licensed Addiction Counselor and is a NAADAC certified Master Addiction Counselor. Mark hails from Upstate New York and moved to Montana to pursue his career at WTC. He enjoys the many outdoor activities that Montana provides including fishing and hunting with his kids. In addition, Mark has a great interest in primitive archery especially carving his own bows.
Patrick Hawkins - Clinical Director
Patrick is a Licensed Addiction Counselor. He has been working in the field of Chemical Dependency since 1995. He first came to WTC in 1996 but left for one year to pursue another
job. He returned in 1998 after realizing there was no better program assisting young men with addiction. He has worked at Hazelden Center for Youth and Families and Way 12 Half Way House. He received his training at The College of Saint Catherine in Minnesota. He has logged over 500 days in the backcountry on over 30 expeditions. He is married and the father of 2.
Ben Dorrington - Director of Referral Relations/Counselor
Ben is a Licensed Addictions Counselor. Ben is a native of the Flathead Valley and graduated from High School in Kalispell. He has a degree in Psychology from Linfield University. In combination with his academic studies he enjoyed playing intercollegiate football while at Linfield. He received his additional training for licensure at the University of Great Falls. He started at WTC in 2000 but left for a short time to pursue other interests in San Diego where he worked with dually diagnosed clients at Mental Health Systems Inc. Ben and his wife, Erika, enjoy the beautiful setting of Montana while fly fishing and playing golf.
Mary Tollefson - Admissions Coordinator
Mary joined WTC in September of 2003. She has an extensive history working in the field including Alcohol and Drug Services in Bozeman and Northern Montana Chemical Dependency Center. Her experience as an administrator and with insurance companies adds to her expertise in performing her role. She has 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.
Carsten McCarter - Counselor
Carsten is a licensed addiction counselor. He grew up in Kalamazoo, MI. After years of struggling with an addictive disorder, he moved to Missoula, MT and began sobriety in 1994. Carsten received his education at Montana State University, University of Montana, and Lane Community College in Oregon. He has worked with adolescents whom struggle with addiction his entire profession career. He was an intern with Wilderness Treatment Center in 1995 and has worked at Pathways in Oregon as well as Building Bridges in Thompson Falls, MT. He enjoys being a husband and a father, fly fishing, skiing, and running marathons.
Shawn Barnett, Counselor
Shawn comes to us from Washington with a background in chemical dependency professional studies. He has worked in both detoxification and more traditional inpatient settings. Shawn’s enthusiasm for recovery comes across in all his professional pursuits and is an excellent member of our clinical team. Shawn is a husband and father and can frequently be seen enjoying the Montana outdoors with his family.
Jay Brewer, Counselor
Jay is from Beardstown, Illinois and holds a degree in Addictions Counseling from the University of Great Falls, Montana. Jay has a long history in the addictions treatment field and his passion comes across on a daily basis. Jay enjoys hiking in Glacier National Park, skiing, and cooking for his wife and daughter.
Rod Smith, Counselor
Rod has been in the addiction treatment field since 1996. He holds a B.S. in Psychology from Oral Roberts University and has several credits towards his master’s degree from George Fox University in Oregon. Rod has been a certified alcohol and drug counselor in Oregon, Nevada, and Montana. Rod has worked in outpatient, inpatient, and correctional settings and has spent most of his professional career working with dual diagnosis clientele. Rod enjoys being a husband and father, can you can often find him playing and composing a wide variety of music.
Phillip Hobson, Counselor
Phillip holds a B.S. from Michigan State University and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from JFK University. He has extensive knowledge in adolescent and young adult addiction treatment. Phillip comes to us from California and Oregon where he worked at Thunder Road Chemical Dependency Treatment Center and Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Program. He is a wilderness first responder and enjoys spending his free time doing pretty much anything outdoors.
Glen Brown,Senior Wilderness Instructor
Glen is a Montana native and a Drummond High School graduate. Glen was honorably discharged from the Air force in 1995 and has held a variety of wilderness related positions since. Notably, Glen has worked for the United States Forest Service and has extensive knowledge of the Seeley-Swan, Mission, and Bob Marshall Wilderness areas. Glen is a wilderness first responder. Glen enjoys being a husband and father and can often be found fly fishing and mountain biking in the Montana wilderness.
Caleb Carter, Wilderness Instructor
Caleb is a graduate of Montana State University and brings a ton of relevant experience to his position. Caleb has worked in health promotion, child advancement, summer camps, YMCA settings, and experiential education programs. His wilderness experience and challenge course facilitation background make him a very valuable member of our team. Caleb is a wilderness first responder. Caleb is a proud husband and father and can often be found trail running if you can catch him.
Tyler Fisher, Wilderness Instructor
Tyler holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Missouri. He has worked extensively with AmeriCorps as a resource development leader and a team leader in emergency response. We are proud to say that Tyler has provided relief in Hurricanes Ivan, Dennis, and Katrina. Tyler is a Wilderness EMT and enjoys playing softball in his free time.
Blair Bullick, Wilderness Instructor
Blair is a graduate of Huntington University and holds a B.S. in Youth Ministry. Blair has been a camp counselor at Great Oaks Camp and Lake Lucerne Camp and Retreat Center. Blair is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School and is a wilderness first responder. Blair has extensive knowledge in rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and winter expeditions. In his free time, you can find Blair in the wilderness enjoying the hunting and fishing Montana has to offer. |
